Rising Star Ishmael Cisse Makes Strides as Stanford Receiver

Stanford sophomore wide receiver Ishmael Cisse has played tremendously this year. This sophomore has become a bright future addition for the Cardinal offense.

Having only been featured on scount team last year, Cisse is a major asset in 2024.

How It All Began

Cisse wanted to step up and get the shot last year as a freshman. He was an authentic first-year, but on the depth chart, he slipped behind the older, more experienced guys ahead of him.

Challenging for the Cherry Creek High School Standout, with 3 State championships and a nose for making plays and helping his team...

But Cisse had to learn patience, and hope his day would come.

This Year Has Been a Different Story

Flash forward to this season - Cisse started the first game of the season for Stanford

Cisse snagged eight catches for 90 yards and his first-career touchdown. After the game, he attributed his early success to picking up the defense well and his teammates

"After last year, I just wanted to come into this season confident and ready to make plays. I've been working really hard and I'm starting to see it pay off."

He looked super comfortable and confident running routes in the Cardinal offense.

Cisse Has Developed His Competitiveness

"Ishmael has already really improved mentally because of what we’re attempting to do. It’s giving him more mobility and quicker".- Troy Taylor

The same kind of bruising competitiveness that Cisse had shown in high school, too, has begun to show up. He fights to win every route he runs and take every pass that lands in his path. That type of passion runs rampant in Stanford’s other young receivers.

Cisse also attributes his experience at Cherry Creek. He once learned everything he can about working in teams and playing well when under pressure. And that learning is what’s really making him great in college now.

It Goes Beyond Just Catches and Yards

Beyond the obvious talent he has as a receiver, Cisse and other guys who’ve made it big in high schools provide a culture of winning and taking no excuses.
